Is salvation for the few or for the many ? Many still ask this question. Jesus’ reply is not about the numbers. He warns his listeners about being complacent and taking the soft option. ‘Strive to enter by the narrow door’, people knock on the door and expect to admitted, but it is not that simple. We hear the master turns them away claiming not to know them, despite their efforts to say that they are well-known. A passing acquaintance with Jesus will not be enough. The plea of ‘we once eat and drank in your company’ is feeble. It is not enough to know Jesus only on the surface or only to turn to him when we are in need. Is it your wish to commit your life to Jesus today and always ? What changes do I need to make to my life to do this ?
